There is not a maximum number of files. The max limits depend on the complexity of the catalogued disks trees and the quantity (size) of pdf documents info fields information. That complexity add size to database files, and only here, database files size, we can reach the limits. That limit appear if database files size reach 2+ GB.

I know that one user already tested it with 97000+ pdf’s, with database files size PDFEDB.inf=20127KB and PDFEDB.idx=3436KB. From this numbers I think you can get the idea.

Currently we can not specify custom fields. We can use only the pdf standard fields.

TIP: If you really need to add comments you can transform one of the standard fields to your needs. You can use Producer or Creator fields to do that. You can also rename that transformed field into "Comments" word, to be contents related in the PDFE interface. To do that edit the English.lng file present in the "Lang" PDF Explorer sub-folder and rename that field, save the new interface file into another .lng file and select that new file as the new PDFE interface in Edit>Preference-Current Language.
This is not political correct, only work in PDFE, and note that fields text is limited to 256 characters.

But custom fields option is already in the PDFE TODO list so one of this days we can add all the fields we want ;-)
