Subject: Snow Storm work!

Well, school got out at 1:00 today because it snowed 3-6 (it's 4 inches now, it was 3 then, and it's said to get up to 6...) and the winds picked up to about 40 miles per hour! So we even though they got out of school early we still have a lot of work to do because of the weather and the horses! I had MeShelle make sure all the cats and dogs and other animals that can normally roam around the farm free were in their room (or at least indoors) and Lisa fed and watered them and made sure they were happy, Linsey brought them out blankets and she baked them treats, and Erick cleaned up any messes they made. After that, Shawn came home from work because of the road conditions and so Adam stayed inside and watched Nevada and Thomas as well as Lacey (it's too windy for her to be out there!) while the rest of us went outside and made sure the stalls were mucked out, and Lisa bedded them nice and cozily and Shawn, MeShelle and I brought them in. Erick got them lukewarm water, and Lisa turned off the water supply to the automatic waterers outside. Then, Linsey got them each 4 flakes of hay for their haynets, and I mixed up feeds for later. Then we turned down the radio and went inside for a little while leaving the light on outside of the barn so we could find it again!
*****************7:00 PM
We went back outside and made sure the horses were comfortable, Linsey refilled haynets (this time with 7 slabs in each) Erick refilled water (Lisa helped him, they had to also de-ice buckets, even though our barn is heated there was some ice) and I gave the horses their evening feed. Then we skipped out stalls, rebedded if necissary, checked on our other pets and went inside for the night.
