Dave,

In regards to you question on the Big 20 the next question that I have is do you have any Auxilary power on the 120 volt power receptacles. If not, we need to check the exciter in the unit. Your unit is equipped with a belt driven alternator that supplies power to the main field of the generator. This alternator is located on the top of the main welding generator.

The alternator relies on battery voltage that we supply to the "F" terminal on the back of the alternator. With power (Battery Voltage)at this point you should have approximately 50-55 volts DC power that supplies the main field of the generator. This voltage establishes our field for both weld and aux. power.

If you are uncomfortable yourself with making these checks yourself I strongly recommend that you take this machine to you authorized Miller Service Center for assitance. If you need to locate a Miller Servicing Center you can find them on our web site at www.millerwelds.com.

If you have any further questions please contact me.
