Subject: TIG Pedal resistance

Hello All, I bought an ADC200 inverter welder and am having problems controlling the arc with the pedal. I opened it up and found a 3k resistor across the 10k potentiometer. This makes the resistance at the wiper increase from 0 to about 3.35k at three quarter travel and back down to 2.33k at full travel. The pedal is supposed to be the same as used on some american models. Does anyone have what the pedal resistance curve is supposed to be or what other welders use? I presume there should be no shunt resistor or the pedal was supposed to be 3.3k. Thanks.
