I am interested in buying a 220 volt mig welder with 200 to 300 amps. I'm actually leaning more towards the 250-300 amp range. I am considering miller, hobart, lincoln and century. I have a century 120 volt 130 amp mig welder that I used to build a 5x10 utility trailer. I am welding as a hobby and need to fabricate another trailer using heavier 3" C channel. I plan to also have other welding projects. I don't know which brand and model to choose as thay all seem to be good welding machines. I would prefer quality and something trouble free.

Are there any reputable mail order companies and catalogs I can get a hold of. That's another question. Should I buy from a local welding store or is it possible to order through the mail and save $$$. Is miller and hobart the same company. I feel like I placed a large order of questions but If I don't ask I won't know. The trailer I'm building is going to hold a 20' long hovercraft. Thanks in advanve for your help. Dave
