I believe Bill is talking about the cable liner. The cable between the Welder and the MIG gun has a liner in it that the MIG wire feeds through. I was aware that folks usually use a different liner for Aluminum than Steel. But, I thought all Steel wire used the same liner. Most welders come stock with the liner for steel and you have to get an Aluminum kit if you want.

I think thats what Bill was refering to.....
