to smash this thing and buy a Licoln 175 Squarewave.
:dude,,,,these smaller machines technically will weld
aluminum,,,but not really well,,,,a guy from hobart told me to use 0.30 4043 wire with straight argon of course and he even uses the steel liner instead of the teflon liner,,,,,i havent tried it yet with my machine but it theroretically sounds good,,,,,htp mig sells a spool gun supposedley compatible with most welders,,,,ie; mig welders,,,if you are goofing around at home in the garage and want to do aluminium and speed and productivity are not an issue
then yes if you got the money heck yes get the sqaure wave
tig!!!!! but the htp spool gun is about 600.00 bucks versus about 1500.00 for the licoln,,,,,,i,ve welded all processess and am certified in most processes and have used spool guns ,,,push pull guns and tig for aluminim and i also do a lot of work at home and have tried to do aluminium with my hobart handler so i know what
your going through,,,oh by the way i got an econo tig for tig work on aluminium but some times i would like the speed of mig instead of tig welding on various projects,,,,,feel free to e-mail if you would like t-bone
