Subject: Tig Torch Cup Size

How does one properly choose a cup for your tig torch. I understand that it must be at a min 3 times the diameter of the tungsten. What is a general rule to use on selecting one. My new torch came with a #7 (7/16 ID) cup with a 3/32 tungsten. Many times larger than the 3 times rule.

Thanks
John
