Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out here I really could use the opinion of an experienced welder.Back story: I took My blazer to a national auto body repair shop for paint & minor body work. There was one spot of rust on the top of the cab. The rust was supposed to be "cut" out and a patch "welded" on. FF> 5 yrs. The patch popped off. It had been glued with Duramix Panel adhesive directly on top of the rust that was not cut out. Upon complaint to the franchise owner I got this response " This panel adhesive is an acceptable alternative to welding" "The repair lasted 5yrs, I doubt it would have lasted any longer had it been welded" Now to My way of thinking it is ludicrous to expect a proper weld to only last 5 yrs or less..if the rust had been removed and the area properly prepped and the patch welded on..should that not last, pretty much a lifetime?
