The wagon tank is totally different from other A & G body tanks. A regal car or Monte carlo tank is not going to work. They are the wrong shape, & filler goes in the rear instead of side. The El camino tank would be closer, but you would still need to cut out the wagon's rear floor & spare tire well. The only real good solution is a new wagon tank with a baffle added inside before it is welded together.
Most of the new aftermarket tanks are made by spectra industries in Quebec, Canada. They do make new tanks to fit our wagons. Since I live in Canada, I was Emailing them, talking to someone named Mark Church, discussing having them make a run of tanks for us with baffles inside, & he was willing to do it, but then somebody at Spectra changed their mind & decided they were too busy to bother with this project. We need to convince them its worth their time to do this! My latest move was to talk to the manager at our local warehouse, who are one of spectra's biggest single customers, & they are going to try to get their spectra sales rep to get the shop to build some.
We need anyone who is interested in a fuel injected swap into a 78-83 wagon to Email Spectra & tell them there are buyers for these tanks!. Try www.spectrapremium.com OR calagourer@spectrapremium.com. I had talked to Mark Church, & someone else named Rick. Automotive Warehouse, in NOTL, Ontario is my local dealer who is trying to get spectra involved again. If this project does happen we would likely buy them through Automotive warehouse, so spectra wouldn't have to ship to a bunch of seperate addresses. Thanks, Ron Cavanagh, buickron@aol.com
