Nominated by: Jessica Linck
Address: 12130 Skip Jack Drive
Germantown, MD 20874 240-601-2876
jel218@yahoo.com

Nominee Statement:

My name is Jessica Linck (Alpha ’99), and I am running for IEB President. I previously served on the IEB as Treasurer and am the current President. As Treasurer (and President) I focused on reforming the administration of the Promissory Note program. As a result of the new procedures and incentives, our promissory note revenue has increased by almost an order of magnitude in the last three years. As President I have worked with the IEB to clarify our International Constitution and Bylaws, to incorporate new IEB positions and restructure our International Committees, to improve the communication between the IEB and the Sorority’s Colonies, Chapters, and Alumnae, and to develop new Sorority policies/procedures that every non-profit organization should have in place. I am interested in staying on as President to work on further enhancements to the Sorority. I would like to work with our Judiciary Chair to improve our International Constitution and Bylaws, to help integrate the new IEB positions into the Sorority, to update our website with a new look, and to foster our relationships with other Engineering and Greek Organizations. I can envision a time in which Alpha Omega Epsilon would partner up with Sigma Phi Delta, Theta Tau, Triangle, Phi Sigma Rho, and Alpha Sigma Kappa in joint efforts to promote engineering through career-oriented, service, and/or philanthropic projects. Please contact me at 240-601-2876 or jel218@yahoo.com if you have any questions/concerns you would like me to address, and please vote Jessica Linck for President during elections!

Nominee Statement:

I was president of the University of Virginia during the colony period and was able to see the colony become a chapter during my term. I lead the colony to overcome many obstacles in the process of being recognized by the school as a sorority. I have also served on the expansion committee and had the opportunity to work closely with the current vice president. As a result of working with the current VP, I have gained valuable experience on the internal workings of the International Executive Board. I am very enthusiastic to be able to serve my sisters in the common objective of encouraging women in the fields of engineering and science.

Brookfield, WI 53005

aoemarie@yahoo.com

Nominee Statement:

While holding this office for the past two years I have learned a lot. I have come to understand that when you hold an office on the IEB, you not only must up hold the duties of the office but you must also be a responsible board member.

In the past two years I have attended the Fraternal Law Conference and translated what I learned there to the needs of the sorority. During my interaction with both chapters & colonies I’ve come to see the need for a standardization of deadlines & documents.

While I believe that in the past two years I have ascertained a great understanding of the office & its responsibilities, I am excited to continue the work I’ve started.

Treasurer Nominees:

Nominee: Samatha Appleby (Alpha, 2004)

sappleby04@yahoo.com

Nominee Statement:

I feel that I would be a fitting addition to the IEB as Treasurer because I embrace the bonds of sisterhood, I add fun to any event, and to top it off, I’m even good with money! Spending 4 ½ years as an Active, I’ve gotten to know so many awesome women & made so many friends I couldn’t possibly live without. As an Active, I held the Treasurer & VP positions while having a blast at every minute. On an international level, I have taken the initiative to become involved in the convention committee in order to see the interworkings of the Sorority. I’m currently working in Sales, representing a Profit Recovery Company, so obviously I understand the importance of funds & getting back to people in a timely manner. I am easily accessible by phone or e-mail & willing to travel whenever needed. I’d love to get the chance to give back to the sorority what they’ve given me & I think that taking this role is a great place to start.

Nominee Statement:

One of my favorite sayings is, “When opportunity knocks, Answer.” Joining Alpha Omega Epsilon was an opportunity proven to be an ongoing adventure with many blessings. Serving as IEB treasurer has been a welcomed learning process and I hope it is only the beginning of my post collegiate service to our sorority. The financial successes of this term are not entirely my own but of the fantastic volunteers we have the priviledge of working with. For instance, Rose (Iota Alumna), our promissory note chair, has been diligent with tracking promissory note promises and payments. Her efforts have led to record collections. One of my tasks has been to track more accurately how these monies are being utilized to support expansion and benefit alumnae.
The sorority has experienced increased growth and with that comes a heavier workload. I have worked on streamlining our financial record keeping practices by developing standard accounting procedures.
I am passionate about sorority merchandise. We continue to work on developing a sorority logo and additional stock merchandise. I enjoy working with our suppliers and plan to continue these relationships in a positive direction.
There are many tasks yet to accomplish in our sorority’s financial endeavors. I would welcome the chance to continue in service to Alpha Omega Epsilon for another term.

Nominee Statement:

Since graduation, I have been involved with Alpha Omega Epsilon on an international level in many different ways. I have served as the Members Committees Chair for two years. I am currently the ICR and am on the Chicago Convention Committee. As the ICR for the past two years, I have seen the sorority grow from 13 chapters to 18 chapters, and I have helped grow the IEB to allow the chapters the personal attention they need while not over-burdening any one volunteer. I implemented the Regional Advisor positions which have proved quite successful. I have also been very supportive of the chapters and have been able to gve them guidance when needed. I have been able to make many chapter visits, giving the chapters the personal relationship that they need with the IEB. If elected, I look forward to another term of expanding the work that I have started. I would like to emphasize more inter-chapter relationships to promote idea sharing and expanding the idea of sisterhood. I would like to also concentrate on standardization of paperwork, policies and procedures throughout the International sorority.

Alumnae Relations Officer Nominee:

Nominee Statement:

This recently created position holds such great potential for progress and success in attaining great relationships and support of alumnae. In my short time in this office, I have been successful in building a foundation for achieving these goals. I will continue to do so if reelected and will strive to bring my visions to reality.

Director of Expansion Nominees:

Nominee: Dionne Gilmore (Theta, 2005)
Address: 3152 Serpis
Grand Prairie, TX 75054
832-338-5829
deero23@gmail.com

Nominated by: Melissa Stambaugh
Address: 1271 Redwood Point#3
Eagan, MN 55123
651-330-5326
iebvp@aoesorority.org or
Illiniwxgal1@comcast.net

Nominee Statement:

As an African American female at Georgia Tech it was very important to me to find a support group to help me during those trying times while I was in school. Until my last semester at Tech there was no such organization on campus. Then my sisters and I chartered the Georgia Tech Colony and I finally found what I had been looking for. I feel that I am qualified for this position because I am deeply troubled by the male to female ratio of engineers in the workforce, and as Director of Expansion I would have the opportunity to bring a sisterhood and support group to other aspiring female engineers. Also, during our chartering process I was responsible for putting our colony packet together that was submitted to the IEB, and because of that I feel I can be a great help to the schools who wish to charter a colony but still need a little guidance on getting all of the information and paperwork together. Finally, my job is very flexible which will permit me more leeway to travel. I would truly be honored to serve as your Director of Expansion and I appreciate your votes.
Dionne

Nominee: Jennifer Rowe (Gamma, 2004)
Address: 2205 New Garden Rd # 4604

iebvp@aoesorority.org or
Illiniwxgal1@comcast.net

Nominee Statement:

I feel I would be an excellent Director of Expansion because of my commitment to Alpha Omega Epsilon and my desire to expand the sorority to all young women in Engineering fields. During my years as an Active with Gamma, as well as my involvement with the Expansion Committee as an Alumna, I have actively persued five universities (Va Tech, Ga Tech, Univ of Maryland, Duke, and UNC-Charlotte). I have also served as the Expansion Representative for the Virginia Tech Colony. As VT’s Expansion Rep, I experienced the struggles, as well as the excitement of chartering a chapter/colony. As the Director of Expansion, I feel I can use what I’ve learned thus far and apply it to the future expansion of the sorority to all young women persuing an Engineering career.

Director of Publications Nominees:

michellearch@gmail.com

Nominee Statement:

I have a strong commitment to the sorority and a passion for “getting the word out.” I am a firm believer that you need to tell people things if you want them to know them! I believe in the ties of sisterhood and that much of the ties are solidified with committees I would be overseeing (elections, newsletter, website and documentation) as Director of Publications. The PR we receive on and off campus aids in recruitment strategies both internally to our chapters and externally with expansion.

In regards to experience within Alpha Omega Epsilon, I have served as the convention chair of the 2005 convention and co-chair of the members committee. I currently serve as the alumna advisor to the Mu chapter and chair of the 2006 convention. In general, I have journeyed to a number of chapters to promote convention, attend installations and just meet other sisters! It was with great honor that I accepted the Volunteer of the Year award at the 2005 convention.

External to AWE, I work with universities as part of my full time job in University Relations for Motorola. I know how to find contacts and the means to populate our name on campus. I believe this will help other committees and executive board members in getting their jobs done. I am organized, innovative and determined which will allow me to think outside the box and carry this position and the committees I oversee to success.
