We have our trivia prize winner!! Congratulations to Heather (Stough) Campbell (Gamma, 1999)!!

TRIVIA QUESTION
Q: Name at least 2 of the 5 alumnae who established
the Alpha Omega Epsilon National Foundation in 1996.

Heather correctly identified Michelle Vondenkamp (Beta, 1989) and Julie Heinrich (Beta, 1991) as 2 of the 5 alumnae who established the Foundation.

The other 3 alumnae are:
Wendy Aasen (Beta, 1990)
Cindy Benske (Alpha, 1989) - Cindy was the first NEB President in 1990 and was the first Chairman of the Foundation!
Julie Whalen (Alpha, 1990)

We owe our undying gratitude to these 5 ladies for having the vision of establishing a charitable foundation to support women in the fields of engineering and technical science.

But then, they were always visionaries for Alpha Omega Epsilon. In addition to the Foundation, the National Executive Board (now the International Executive Board or IEB) was founded by 4 of the same women who established the Foundation. Along with Kathy Ives, Wendy Aasen, Cindy Benske, Michelle Vondenkamp, and Julie Whalen served as the first NEB in 1990. Cindy Benske was the first NEB President from 1990-1994. Julie Heinrich later served as NEB Vice President in 1994-1995 and as NEB President in 1995-1996.

These women have been very inspirational to me and have served as mentors to me during my past 8 years on the IEB. So if you ever have a chance to meet any one of them at a convention, an AOE anniversary celebration, or at any other AOE function, let them know you are thankful for their efforts. Along with the 27 founders of AOE, these women have worked hard to ensure AOE strives and grows into the best sorority it can be!

Congratulations again to Heather Campbell for knowing her AOE history!

Former IEB President (2001-2004)
