Turning ideas into reality... "In a blink of the eye, engineers have turned ideas for human flight into reality." This year celebrates the 100th anniversary of piloted flight by the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk, NC. What would our world be like today without this accomplishment? Without engineers, how many of today's realities would not exist?

Celebrate engineers and the engineering profession! National Engineers Week is February 16-22, 2003 in the United States and March 1-9, 2003 in Canada. Founded in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers and sponsored by more than 100 engineering, scientific, and education societies, and major corporations, National Engineers Week is dedicated to increasing public awareness and appreciation of engineers and to encouraging pre-college interest in science, technology, and engineering. National Engineers Week is celebrated annually by thousands of engineers, engineering students, teachers, and leaders in government and business.

As an organization composed of engineers and scientists, the International Executive Board of Alpha Omega Epsilon Sorority has pledged to promote and to encourage participation in National Engineers Week. Chapters of Alpha Omega Epsilon are strongly encouraged to participate in activities to promote the engineering profession during National Engineers Week. Alumnae are also encouraged to celebrate the profession.

Share your events and planned activities with chapters and alumnae! Let us know what you are doing during National Engineers Week! Feel free to post replies sharing your events and activities on the discussion board. Also visit the National Engineers Week web sites at www.eweek.org (US) and www.new-sng.com (Canada).
