That's a very interesting idea. You know what; when I first saw scans of X 11 (this was back when I only owned X up to about volume 4 so I knew virtually nothing at that point) I thought Keiichi was part of the whole "Kamui accepting that he's gay" thing (I know, I know, it sounds so dumb now but I really did know virtually nothing^^;;;). I thought the point of him was that he's all Big! Blonde! Gaaaaaaaaaaay!(said in high squeaky C-ko voice) which throws Kamui for six...plus Keiichi looks similar to Fuuma and he's kind to Kamui just like Fuuma used to be.
Anyway. ^_^ Keiichi isn't just the comic relief. The wonderful Natalie Baan once compared him to the "Fool" archetype (not the Tarot Card version, the 'King Lear' type). And she was right. Under the guise of being foolish and innocent, Keiichi actually says all the things Kamui needs to hear. Keiichi has hysterically funny scenes which are later offset by immense tragedy.
...I'll stop there cos otherwise I'll be babbling all night. ^_~
