LOL! I don't have any grandparents. Alive at least if you know what I mean, but I am sure my mother-in-law would have done the same thing even though she is not Italian, but "Uchinanchu" from Okinawa. Hubby always tells me to hide my things from her and I even found out that she used some of my clothes while I was in my home country!
