"Teaching Children Life Skills"

My parents did everything for me. When I became an adult I could barely cook ramen, much less stick to a budget! As time went on, I did learn, but it wasn't easy. Then I thought of my peers, we had all entered the adult world unprepared. Living at homes with maids and gardeners-never making a bed, these things did a disservice to us. So how can you train your children to acquire the skills they would need to be on their own? Start small, assign one or two chores to start, rotate chores amoung children so every sim has a chance to learn a skill and make sure they pratice!

Children may not be able to do much, but the little they can do, allow them to do such things.
---Simple chores: making thier beds; cleaning toilets, bathtubs or sinks; taking out the trash; watering plants; clearing away thier toys
---Cooking simple meals: If you purchase a toy oven, you can allow them to bake an afterschool snack for themselves instead of raiding the fridge for cookies and chips.
---Sell lemonade for extra simoleans (a great way for them to earn money instead of asking you for an allowance)

Teens can do everything children can do and a bit more:
---Allow them to to hold a job, even if the job is unpleasant.
---Shop for groceries.
---Prepare simple meals.
---Help care for younger siblings: cooking breakfasts, changing diapers
---Learn how to drive

With these tips, your children will be adequately prepared for adulthood.
