Hair -- Jeannie (forum admin), 17:14:48 10/16/04 Sat
Well, after trying one hairstylist - who was good - but incredibly miserable (I felt so down by the time I left the shop), I decided to try another.
So, one sunny late summer day, I walked around town, up and down the backroads, checking all the stylists' shops.
Finding 3 closed (it was lunchtime after all), I kept walking.
Eventually landed at The Essence of Beauty, on Water Street.
Karen ("M") now does my hair.
Good styling, great laugh - very funny and bright personality and very reasonable prices (plus they have a sunbed that you don't need a mortgage to use!).
If you do decide to use Karen, let her know I recommended her to you....
Good luck Toby.

Menzes -- toby, 08:00:23 11/15/04 Mon
ok, I know it's his last name but I don't think he should have called it Menzes. Has anyone else caught this linguistic faux pas.

Menses not Menzies -- Susan, 10:01:35 04/21/05 Thu
It is actually spelled "Menses" not Menzies
What does the Menzies name mean?
Last Name: Menzies
Scottish: variant of Manners, in which the z originally represented Middle English letter ʒ (yogh), representing a sound similar to modern English y. The surname is still pronounced mingiz in Scotland. It has been Gaelicized as Méinn, from which come the English forms Mein and Mien. The patronymic forms McMenzies, McMon(n)ies, McMin(n), and McMyn symbolize adaptation of the name to the predominant pattern of Highland surnames.
