Subject: Swimming is fine

Just another note, my kids have been swimming in scugog since they were babies.(they are grown now). There are many places around the lake that are suitable for swimming. The bottom is sandy and weed free, it doesn't get too deep and the water is mostly warmer. And they have never been sick from it.

I have been doing a little research, and I have discovered that you live in Barrie. So please don't be telling people how good or bad our lake is!!!!!

It was my understanding that this forum is about helping other people with regards to any questions about Port Perry.

I said the lake was not swimmable because I got that info from a very reliable source, from a local real estate agent; Mr. John Philips of Mincom (905-985-2603). He specializes in the Lake Scugog area & he knows the area inside out. There are some spots that are weed free but they are privately owned.

I'm only the messenger. I'm passing along some info I got from local people, which may or may not be true. If you don't agree with that, please don't shoot the messenger. Thank you.

I have to jump in here !!

I live on a 'back lot' and my friends and neighbours are across the road on the lakeside lots. One of these friends swims in Lake Scugog every day, right off her dock.

No weeds.

In fact, I don't recall seeing weeds along our banks, just in town (Port Perry). Although this year the weeds seem to be more limited than last year, thank goodness.

It's not perfect swimming, but my guess is that it is as good as swimming in Lake Simcoe.

Happy swimming !
