Subject: High speed internet in unserviced Scugog areas

I am trying to ascertain how many homes would be interested in subscribing to wireless high speed internet in areas that are currently unserviced for broadband.

This includes areas such as Scugog Island, parts of Blackstock and Cesarea that are unserviced.

If you are interested, please use the feedback form on the left side of the main screen and I'll add your details to the list I am compiling.

The company I am currently looking at is Candlelight. The speed apx 2mb both ways and, if you have line of sight (no trees or buildings between you and the transmitter) then you can expect 3-4 mb both ways.

They are interested in servicing non-serviced areas, but only as long as there is a significant base of homes to warrant their investment.

A resident of Scugog Island, I currently use Lincsat (Xplornet), which is only slightly faster than dialup with accelerator. If you suffer from similar woes, please contact me so I can encourage Candlelight's investment.

I look forward to hearing from similar frustrated residents!

Hi Jeannie,

I recently moved to Seagrave and am going crazy with dial-up. Please add me to the list and let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Thanks Jenn.

Now the silly season is over, I'm going to start going round seeing what interest there is.

Apparently, to get the interest of the provider, we need 100 homes in an area.

As you are in Seagrave (I'm on the Island), canvas your neighbours, and have them canvas their neighbours. Then, when you have apx. 100 interested homes, let me know and I'll start the ball rolling for you.

Take care,
Jeannie
