I think it makes sense to use a combination of styles of parenting depending on the situation and child. Adhering strictly to one style is not practical. Baumrind's Parenting Style concept can be readily translated into the classroom. I have had teachers of every variety: Authoritarian, Authoritative, Indulgent and Neglectful teachers. The best teachers have used combinations of the above styles in their classrooms.
