essay - http://www.bartleby.com/65/pr/progrlan.html

To obtain print resources for computer programming, I used the Columbia Encyclopedia by the Bartleby.com in 2002 published by the Columbia University Press, the World History Encyclopedia by Peter N. Stearns and thiry prominent historians published by the Houghton Mifflin Company in 2001, and the World Factbook by the Central Intelligence Agency published by Bartleby.com in 2001. I used to Bartleby.com, a website which has online encyclopedias that also exist in book form, to find out about computer programming. To find the website, I searched Google.com for "online encyclopedias." From the website, I now know that programming existed even in the 1950's. Also, there are a vast amount of different computer programming languages that people made for various reasons.
