Well they say tis the season to be THANKFUL and after my trip I have plenty to be thankful for. Without further ado, I'd like to thank:
The Owners of the Erie St Bed n Breakfast - very comfortable bed, charming little guard dog. Who could ask for better accomadations. The husband even lent me a stepladder (that he’ll never see again) and the wife was sooo delightful. (once her TV show Ellen was over) Very little to criticize……although the omelet needed a few more things in it, oh and it was slightly burnt cuz the chef wouldn't stop chatting on the phone, plus they almost gave my bed away and they did eat all my chocolate squares but besides that....
To the Mysterious Man - I don't know who he was, but he swooped into Molly's, all plump and jolly (and sweaty) and picked up the entire tab for everyone. No sooner had he paid, than a couple of elves in a sleigh pulled up outside, loaded him in the back (with the help of some astonished onlookers) and off they went into the night. The only proof that he was even there, was a bunch of empty glasses, some chicken bones and a few disgruntled liberals. From the bottom of my unemployed heart, I hope he knows how thankful I am.
Nate - That shirt you gave me as a gift was an unexpected surprise.(Once I turned it the right way) Thank You Dear Cousin! Just an FYI - When you realize that I didn't leave it at the Vic Inn per your instructions and call me to inquire…..I will deny ever seeing the shirt. This is sage advice I received from your father. (Who I imagine hasn’t slept yet after those 8 cups of coffee at Molly’s)
To the Older Brothers B-Ball Team - Out of respect we let you win a few at first, but thank you for then taking your eventual beating graciously. My bruises from all the fouling will heal in time, but the wonderful memories will last forever.
To my dear cousin Peekaboo - Although you refused to offer me water while I worked, I do appreciate that during your hourly emotional breakdowns you allowed me to capture your tears into the paper cup I got from 7-Eleven. This small amount of hydration kept me going and for that I am grateful.
To the Security of Molly Blooms - I know standard protocol is to toss out a man who won’t stop jumping up and down and screaming at the top of his lungs. Thank you for resisting! I hope he dedicates his next solo rendition of “Angel” to you.
Boy I’m running out of space….
• Happy Engagement Erin and Andy! Andy, stop over-working my cousin…..
• Thank you Electrical Genius Kenny!
• Jack for talking to me during his favorite show’s commercials.
• Bell Canada for Keeping Nate occupied. And Abbey and Jay for pretending to like the kitchen colour.
• My two wonderful brothers for making the trip up to play B-Ball; although try to be more punctual to the game next time!!!
I’m sorry I didn’t make it to Toronto to Delaware Ave on this trip. I hope the party went well. Uncle Tim, as a tribute to you, I went and messed up Peter Ivan’s computer by changing the settings.
I love you all, (even those of you WAY up in the Sue!)
See you soon. Merry Christmas!!!
Yvan
