It is no coincidence that the word "die" figures prominently in the word "diet". I admit the first week was a killer. I gave up coffee and carbs like bread. I had a headache for most of the week and felt weak. However, I pushed through. I bought one of those digital scales so I could see exactly how much weight I was losing (or gaining, sigh). Alex started before me, and he seems to be losing weight. We were thwarted when we received a postcard with an invitation to the annual pie party of our friends down the street. It was just one night fortunately (we didn't let ourselves be derailed completely). Of course, after the Shepherd's Pie, chicken pot pie, spinach pie, rabbit pie, pecan pie, apple pie, chocolate cream pie, peach pie, etc. we had a lot of rationalizing to do.

My mantra is "I am going to lose 20 lbs.". I am hoping it will be sooner rather than later. It sounds like Jon is way out in front;>) I am impressed.

By the way, who won the basketball game???
