Hello All!!!
Andy and I are currently in Alice Springs waiting for our flight this afternoon to Cairns. The red centre is certainly that, red, but also unbearably hot...we are missing the snow right now. I have never experienced heat like this. We have had an amazing time here though and the past week. We spent a great 3 days in Melbourne with Jamie (old family friend) and then we did a 3 day group camping tour of Uluru and Kings Canyon and had an incredible experience. We slept outside in swags, so underneath the stars and had to be up by 4am one morning and 5am the next. Not only was this necessary to catch the sunrise but also you have to get all your activities in before noon as everything is closed off due to the heat. We climbed Uluru which was crazy...super steep incline, 80 degrees in some spots, but spectacular views. Then we did a hike of Kings canyon which included swimming in a water hole in the centre which was really cool. We also met some really great people and funnily enough the couple behind us had lots of odd connections with us. They were both English and first we found out Sophie had been to Stratford a couple times to see plays and has relatives in Toronto then I found out Dan who is also born in '83 but in November was born at the same hospital as me and grew up in Wolvercotte right near Nanny and Grampy. Funny isn't it? It was funny bringing up all sorts of places we had both been too. Very small world. All in all things are great and other than the flies(you have to wear fly nets otherwise they get right in your eyes, ears, nose and mouth...hahaaa, also head and shoulders knees and toes..of course) and the heat things are perfect.
Hope all is well at home,
We miss you lots,
Love Erin and Andy
P.s. Did you get the postcards we sent out about a month ago?
P.s.s. Can you wait for a picture of me Dad for soccer? I haven't quite decided my hair colour for the season yet..perhaps orange, I have to get back in Jack's good books
