Where do you all find dresses for your girls? We are new to this and are having a hard time finding a dress to fit my five yr old. Most things we find are WHITE and it seems like everyone else is wearing it. It doesn't help that she's really petite, seems like all the Tiffany's we tried on should be 2's through the body, but 4's in length. Do you suggest buying what fits in the length then having alterations??? Is there anyone out there that makes affordable custom dresses? How often do you run into someone with the same dress?

- My daughter is really tall, so I buy all of her dresses a couple of sizes too big and have them altered. It may not be the most economical to do the alterations, but if I don't she won't be able to wear the dresses even one year. I have bought most of her dresses at Formal Affair. CUPID'S SWEETHEART PAGEANT- Friday & Saturday February 12 & 13, 2010. Registration ends tomorrow 2/10/10. Everyone get their forms in today and tomorrow. Just want to vent with this comment: What do the glitz pictures really show? I mean come on! I am a pm and my dd is just now old enough to be really competitive with national level, I've bit the bullet and paid the big bucks for the good glitz pics, but I do not understand it! I know everything I am saying contradicts itself. I am complaining, yet do it. But, I don't want to hold her back with supreme scores by not getting her what she needs. These pics are so fake, they couldn't possibly show that a child is photogenic, the ONLY thing glitz pictures show is who invested big $$$$ on a big photographer. These dramatically touched-up photos have absolutely no purpose for winning a title. (unless the award was for who spent the most $$).....and before the bashing begins......I know, I know, it's part of it- like it or lump it. I get that. -- No name, 02/ 9/10 8:16am

We love pageants, love the glitz and glamour, make-up, shiny clothes, fake hair, tans, but those pictures really are pointless, Even though our girls wear fake stuff, at least it is still the child on stage. - agreed Glitz pics are not my fav. The whole picture itself is just so over the top and i wish the directors would make it just a option. As far as the cost yes its crazy but to win you have to have the best. I agree its the retoucher more then photographer. I just refuse to pay 800 or more dollars for a few pictures. I will stick to hobby glitz cuz if you dont pay the cost and get the best you wont win so IMO why bother going my dd wont win due to i wont pay that kind of money for a few pictures.         at glamour girls most girls won with photo events. unless you have all the series, musical comps, 3-d photos, and shoot with every photographer it is a waste to attend nationals. did you notice all the photo banners after the pageant with congratulations. I will never attend another pageant where photos are a factor. also how can girls do dance routines score on facial. Looking for pageants that offer a talent option. After recently seeing two pageants advertised that seemed to offer every option available, neither offers talent. After more searching, it seems to be few and far between (don't know why). Is the talent option not as profitable for vendors (not a lot of $$$ like photos, coaching, h/m, etc) so directors are just not interested or do not many kids have an interest. DD has done pageants for years but is getting older and wanting more of a challenge and while she will practice beauty, OOC, etc. I can tell performing is what she enjoys most & what she asks for when I look at a system. With all of the negative being said, I just wanted to post something positive about a pm at Tn Charm. When we came off the stage , after Arabella won Queen, the 1st runner up's mother was the first one to come up to my dd and tell her how proud she was of her, she took her pic, and made over her as if it was her own dd that won.
