- I agree....I got screwed over by the director 'AMY' with Fabulous Dolls out of Illinois. I dont understand why people want to steal your money. GET A LIFE! Im determined to get my money back. - Thats crazy. I dont understand why ppl want to be that way. We have a pageant we are going to in august, when we get done there, I thiink we are done. DD is still real young, so when she can tell me she wants to do these, then we will talk about it. I just dont see how these adults could cheat these little girls like this. If you sit back and think about it, its the kids getting cheated not the moms. Yea we pay all the money out, but we do it for the kids. Im doing this with a friend so that our DDs can have a hobby together and for the fun of it. My DD has a blast on stage and any time she puts that dress on so changes her whole mood, but its not worth all the stealing and cheating going on ya know? We are in the 13-23 months, so she is still young that we can find another hobby we enjoy. Im not a basher or one thats all about the crown, we just do it for fun.   - Honest directors will get B&R cause that is the law. If they will follow thw law then they will do you child right. (NT) -- We have several systems we love and will do them but are very careful about new system and some of the old ones. We will not do a system that is not bonded and registered. - Okay, I have a question. If being licenced means the state will get there money. What does the bonding do? I always thought that it was just an insurance policy in case of an accident or property damage. I didn't think the bonding would actually pay for you to get your money. Please explain. I used to work for a construction company. Everytime we went on a new job we had to get a bond. But, I understood that it covered any damage to property of humans that might be hurt. So, I'm trying to understand how the bonding is going to get you pageant mommies any money from a non-paying director. (NT) -- TIA, 07/ 5/09 9:47am
  - You get a surety bond from an insurance company and send those papers to the state and the STATE registers you. -- You are not getting a license you get a surety bond and that is a bond that takes care of when they do not give what they advertized. - Directors need to be very clear on the paperwork. Say exactly what you are going to do, and do exactly as you say. Also, publish scoresheet formats and what the judges are going to be told.   - Sunburst ALWAT states on time and never has the age group 0-3 taken longer that 75 min. Yes yje 3 year o;ds are the last age group so they are last to go on. But NEVER has the 0-3 years taken 2 hours, You must be counting the one hour that you come in before the pageant to check in.   - My experiences have been different. Some judges want the glitz girl, some want the natural girl. It really depends on what they want that particular day. This was the prelim, by the way. After reading this board, I have realized that a director's job is very important. If this job is not done right, the reputation and turn-out of the pageant is at stake. So, let's come together and post some tips and advice for new and old directors to use for their pageants. By doing this we can hope to improve the pageant industry! Let's try to refrain from bashing! The only reason this topic is being posted on this board is because we know that you have very strong opinions about the good and bad things in a pageant and you aren't afraid to express them. - natural should be just that NATURAL....don't call a pageant natural to get more entries then allow semi glitz and crown only those in a "pageant" dress. Just be clear and fair to everyone. A lot of new pm and mom's with babies and toddlers only do natural's and their first experience shouldn't be tainted because the "natural" pageant actually was semi-glitz. OK everyone what is the deal with you getting on Deen. Her husband has been really sick and she just this week got her paper work mailed off to the state. You have her all upset for nothing. She has all ways been bonded, but her paper work to get registered did not get mailed until Monday June 29. So give it time to get through channels. The state does not bond you, you have to get that yourself and then send the bonding paper work to the state.
Why don�t you try becoming a director and see how hard it is to plan a pageant. Then have some PM get upset and bash you to death because their DD did not get the placement they wanted them to get. Or bash about how much the pageant cost, what you gave for awards, the crowns were not to their liking, etc. After you have paid out all you took in and did not make a dime on the pageant and someone says you made a killing. I wish every PM would have a pageant and see what directors go through.

- Well said, no one knows what kind of hard work pageant directors do just to give you PM a good fun competition. I realize TN directors need to be bonded and registered but give them time to do so. Most did not even know it was a law, the state does not have a good way of letting directors know what to do.I did not know until this board started all this mess that directors had to be bonded and registered. Hardin County Patriotic Beauties Pageant( Open to all counties) July 19, 2009 Pritchard Community Center Elizabethtown, Ky Registration 12-12:30 Pageant will begin at 1:00p.m. Hosted by Teresa Spicer No fancy dress or tux or suit needed for this pageant. Attire: Anything custom or off the rack that is Red, white and blue themed. ( be creative add ribbons & bows and etc). Outfit can be custom or off the rack. We want every contestant to feel special so every contestant will Receive a crown, sash, plaque only and qualify for Nationals. This is a natural pageant nothing fake allowed. We are looking for the natural contestants. Girls age divisions 0-11mths, 12-23mths, 2yr, 3yr, 4-5yr, 6-7 yr, 8-10 yr, 11-14yr, 15-19yr, 20 & up Boys 0-11mths, 12-23mths, 2-4yrs, 5&up. 1 Grand Elite, 3 Grand Supremes, 2 Mini Supremes, Queens, Princess, Kings, Prince. Supreme Package $75.00 Elite Personality $10.00 Photogenic Supreme $10.00 Parent & Child Look alike $10.00, Buddy N Me Supreme $5.00 each Ways to enter for free: You can sell tickets for $1.00 each on a $25.00 Walmart Gift Card. Sell 150 tickets receive entire pageant for free. Sell 200 tickets you can enter the entire pageant for free and 2 ft trophy. Sell 250 tickets you can enter the entire pageant for free and a 3 ft trophy. Sell 300 tickets you can enter the entire pageant for free and a 4 ft double posted trophy and a crown! All ticket sales must be turned in by July 10th Notify Director asap if You are selling tickets. Pay your supreme pkg in full before July 1st you will receive a special award on stage.
