I saw it! I saw it! I have to be honest though...there was something kind of flat about this year's competition. I'm not sure if it was the music or the set. Either way I am SO excited for Miss Teen Wisconsin! I immedeately thought about you Mandy. Of course I was kind of rooting for Miss Teen Cali (hey come on she's practically family, lol) but I did have a feeling that Wisconsin would capture the crown this year. Lots of beautiful faces and clothes. OH! And I have to ask. How would YOU have answered that final question?

***If you could be a guy for one day, what would you do?***

And I thought to myself, "Puh-leeze! I'd do the same thing I al-...oh wait. I wouldn't shave my legs! Woo woo!"

I think that was the best answer I ever had to an on the spot question. What about you guys? I have to know what you would have said.

I hate their answers last night to the question,It was almost like well since I'm a girl I can't play sports.I thought their answers were just so bad.I would have said,
"Well since a woman can do anything a man can do I would just spend the day as if it were any day, being myself, nothing except what sex I am would be different for that day."
Thats the way I would have answered it.

Okay, my answer would be...ENJOY IT!!! You know, get up in the morning, have my wife bring me my coffee, read the paper, jaunt off to work for eight hours and goof off with the guys I work with, call the wife a couple times to mention all the things "we" need to get done, and make it home just in enough time to have my dinner waiting for me on the table...basically I would be my husband for a day:) No, he's not that bad, but he DOES have it rather easy. Write with you soon!!! Amy

Hello Ladies....I just now FINALLY looked at the message board, and I haven't checked any emails yet...the semester started this week, and I am totally swamped as usual...I won best speech? WOW...yippee!!!! that brightened up my day. Anyways, I have been reading all of you messages, and I must say, I am enjoying the heck out of them :) Jasmine, I understand the frustration w/ ebay...I bought a dress that was worm in the Miss Universe Pageant...the lady lives only an hour from me, and I offered to pick it up from her, she declined, then sent me the wrong dress...instead of the gorgeous gown, she sent me a sundress from the GAP...I'm still fighting with her ove that one. Oh, as to the Miss Teen USA last night, I must say I had to root for Louisiana and Georgia at first, I've worked with both of them in different pageants. My fav overall was Cali (she's so adorable) I could not beleive though when the commentator was asking the girls back stage that wrote the questions that were asked during the first round that Miss NY actually said she wrote the only hard question then went on to call the other contestants' questions "FLUFF QUESTIONS" wow, sorry that to me was a little over the top and a bit tacky...I must say, it was a bit dry or slow or something, overall, but as usual, I did enjoy it. Okay, sorry for the novel, but I wanted to check in and say hi...but now I must attend to my domestic goddess duties...I'm putting a new kitchen floor in today, so I must get busy!!!! Talk to you all soon!!! Lots of Love!!! Amy Waddingham-Bosko

I watched every minute and I'm so happy Vanessa won I was rooting for her.I thought she was the best. She had a beautiful dress and she was adorable.I like that she really looks like a teen.So many of them looked too old.I wasen't happy with what they had the top ten wear when they talked a little about themselves. You could see right up a lot their outfits.GO VANESSA!!

WOW,Jasmine I can't believe that happend I feel so bad.I bid on ebay all the time and they have a thing where people leave feedback so you can read about other peoples experiences.Sometimes I will find something I really really want and then I check their feedback and I find that they have a lot of negatives,it's really like GEEZZ.I get so angry when that happends. It's great that you're doing everthing you can to not let this [I rather not use this word]get away with what he's done to you.It was really great that you did that for your aunt.I know the frustration that goes along with somebody doing you wrong and it's horrible but when you fight for whats right and don't give up no matter how long and how tiring it is,when it's over and you won then it's so worth it.I'm sure I speack for everyone when I say we stand behind you and we're there for you if you need anything.

CONGRATS TO YOU BOTH.I'm so happy for you. This is so exciting.
Lets see,I would like to share a sad story only because I didn't give up on pageants and I stood up for myself.
In 2001 I entered a very well known Achievement pageant and the director tried to take off without giving me my prizes.I entered the pageant and I was suppozed to get my local title along with some awards I had won at the state level.Months went by and I never heard from her.I tried everything to get in touch with the director.I called her,I emailed her,I sent her letters and nothing worked.I got in touch with the national director and she said that the other contestants complained about her as well and that she was no longer the national director.I tried to get in touch with the new national director and she never got back to me.Finally I filed with small claims court and about 6 or 7 months later I got my stuff[my entery materials and my prizes] back and a letter from the director saying she couldn't afford to go to court and that she wasen't the director anymore. She also said that she was sorry. It was my first and worst experience.I'm happy I didn't just let it happend.I f this ever happends to any of you please stick up for yourself. If you need any info about how I went about it just ask.

You're right. Sticking up for yourself IS hard. I gave up participating in the Perfect Productions Plus pageant because my aunt, who has practically been a surrogate mother to me, went on to get her GED after so long : )

As a thank you for supporting me through my life I decided to get her a computer. I didn't have a lot but I knew I could get something decent for about 4-500 dollars. Anywho I went to ubid.com and won a system there. The guy promised me before I even bid that it was in perfect working order and when I got the thing it was stripped.

Now I don't know WHOSE fault it was but I have spent the entire summer in this long battle with my credit card company and this guy and he has been determined to make me feel bad for requesting a refund. A part of me wanted to say "maybe it IS my fault for dealing with a private party" but of course I think he should just give me my money back.

Either way I am glad all of you have trusted me thus far to come through as a director. I have met my share of shady operations in the past and I know that a person's trust is not something to be taken lightly.

It is with great pleasure that I announce the winner of the award for Best Speech. A big congratulations to:

!***Amy Waddingham-Bosko***!

Amy's topic, "My Most Memorable Pageant Experience" got me to thinking about some of MY favorite moments. Namely, something that happened recently at the All American Family Cali State Pageant.

I was going for the supreme win and I had enetered the sportswear category. About a month before competition I started making decisions about my wardrobe and I realized I had nothing "right" in my closet and I wasn't about to spend $300 for a new outfit. Suddenly my mom's seamstress genes kicked in and grabbed an old blouse that I had liked in general but it always felt like it needed some help.

So I cut a bunch of stylish holes into it and decided to decorate it with austrian crystals I had won on Ebay but I procrastinated on the last part. Since I had fallen ill during the week before the event I hadn't felt like working on it. Long story shorter, the night BEFORE I stayed up until 4 am attaching crystals to that blouse.

That day when I went up for my routine I winged it. I had only remembered one step that I made up weeks ago. No coach or anything. And when they announced me as the winner of the overall best sportswear award I was stunned. My family is still angry that I didn't win grand supreme but I could care less. I think families always take it harder than the contestants themselves hehehe. My first sportswear trophy will be a treasure for all time.

That leads me to my next question. I would like you to share YOUR most memorable pageant experience(s). They could be happy or sad ones. Maybe an experience that encouraged you to take some sort of future action. Share Share!

I've said it before and I can't say it enough, I'm SO excited about the crowning of our newest titleholders who will be announced on Saturday. I've been so busy working on two books, prepping to move back to the dorms and undergo two weeks of job training for my Intern position on campus. The book project is coming along nicely. A hefty part of one title is being dedicated to the positive aspects of pageantry and I am thinking of doing an open call for submissions by people who have really used pageants as a springboard to doing great things in their lives.

What have each of you been up to lately? When you post for the first time, be sure to include which state you are representing and anything else you'd like to share. I have a few more emails to respond to(that always happens around the deadline)! Toodles for now!

Hello ladies!

This is the most nerve wracking and most fun part of the year for the Miss Sparkle America program. It is also the second year in existence so you will be very special titleholders, not that all of the future queens won't be, but you certainly have a reason to be proud.

For the remainder of the week I would like you to visit the board regularly to chat and discuss your lives or the pageant in general. Your contributions to the board will not be seen by the judges so just be yourselves! I do know one thing, by joining in you will gain more from your experience than by sitting around and biting your nails all week.

Once again I welcome you as the quest for the Sparkle America 2002 court continues! Good Luck!
