Subject: I think I saw a UFO today

Well today, december 3rd 2004, I think I might have seen a UFO on my way to work.

Time: 2:15pm
Location: Blenheim Rd, driving towards sockburn
City: Christchurch, New Zealand
Weather condition: Clear and sunny with a bit of high cloud

So I'm heading to work, I work evening shift in a polystyrene factory in sockburn... when I see something odd in the sky. So I figure it's a plane. I drive this route to work monday-friday, and in that general direction is the airport, so I am used to seeing planes coming and going... plus the odd chopper.

But this thing was different. I pull over, I look at the thing for about 20 seconds, it's a long object... either cigar shapred, or saucer shaped viewed from the side. Don't know for sure. It was just sitting perfectly still in the air. Not moving AT ALL. It's very bright, like it was silver or was reflecting a lot of sunlight. This brightness prevents me from getting a more accurate description of the object.

So I am scrutinising it looking for any telltale signs of identification. Can't see any tailfin, or wings... which you see on a plane, it wasn't making any sound, and it sure doesn't look like a chopper, so I figure it's not a chopper either.

Then I glance away for a few seconds and look at the traffic, as I'm only a couple of minutes from getting to work. I look back up to where it was, and the thing is GONE. Vanished. I didn't see it move... it's just "not there anymore".

Bear in mind these 2 things:

1. I had a good view of it, the conditions were clear... if the thing was by chance a plane or chopper, I would have seen it flying away in some direction. I didn't see this.

2. The thing was hovering perfectly still for the 20 seconds I was looking at it. This sorta rules out planes, as only choppers and the harrier jumpjet (conventional unclassified aircraft) can "hover".

So I have to conclude, based on what I saw and what I know... there's a reasonable possibility that what I saw today was a UFO. I'll never know for sure unfortunately.
