Subject: Strange night time experiences

Dear soulful souls,
My name is Joanna and I'm writing in the hope that any of you might have more insight into something I experienced a lot as a young child and last night, aged 21, had again for the first time in maybe a decade.
Its an experience which I seem to blank out and forget about the next day, but today I remembered. Last night I was in the deepest state of sleep....the kind where maybe five hours in the dead of night slip into nothing and you normally have absolutely no recollection of them at all. But suddenly something happened. Where was I when it happened? I don't think I was dreaming at the time....all I remember is a distinct sense of being awake, of kind of hovering around my body, seeing the darkness and feeling my body and my bed....it was as though my sleeping self had merged with my actual sleeping body for a moment for some reason. And it was as though I wasn't supposed to have gained consciousness....I had accidentally "opened my eyes" and had an out of body experience, because I could see and I was awake but I was sleeping. And in a split second when I realised this, my heart skipped a beat and I realised somehow I was out of my body, and I felt this rush of fear, and as soon as I felt the fear I could literally hear this deafening gurgly, screeching kind of "little monster" sound, and in the darkness this kind of twisted ball of energy like a dark genie hurled itself towards my face as if trying to scare me...all the time with this loud, warbling sound deafening my ears. At that point I pulled myself out of sleep and returned to awakeness with a sudden heavy thud. As soon as I was awake the fear vanished and I knew I had left the experience behind in some other level which couldnt reach me, but at the time it really felt like I was awake, and it seemed to interrupt my sleeping state rather than be part of dreaming. Looking back I've had this happen several times before, much younger, where I get woken by deafening screeching like a little monster is trying to frighten me, and it forces me awake.
It also reminds me of my very very earliest childhood memories, going back to perhaps when I was aged 3 onwards, when I'd wake suddenly from my deepest sleeping state for no apparent reason, and I'd have an orgasm. The vital factor in all these experiences is how they all came in my deepest, non-dreaming state, and pulled me from a very faraway place to being awake in a split second.
Does anyone have any similar stories? Does anybody sense they know anything about what my experiences mean? At the moment they are the mystery of my life which I am trying to unfathom.
