I understand why one would block many experience's. The society now a days is still "witch hunting". Even in the times that we are in, and the shift to spirituality, people still get freaked with this. I deal with this most everyday, however I will not and do not feel that I have to defend my beliefs. What was given to me, and you is God given, and is a gift. I also carried guilt around for the gifts I was given. However, I have come to feel that God would not have given this to certian people if he was to "condem" us for it. Plus that, and God didnt give us feelings just for us to ignore them :-)
When you mentioned you have a "succumbus spirit" hanging around, may I ask how you learned this?
Legend, and I stress the word legend, has it that a succumbus spirit is a female spirit who "lays" with a human man. This is a European folklore(ranks right up there with vampires in my book).
Could it be more possible that this spirit that watches you sleep, is more in the form of a spirit Guide, or guardian angel? If you feel scared or any negativity from this, I would suggest a cleansing ritual to rid yourself of any possible negative energy's around you. There are many ways one can do this.
