Everyone has thier own views of the Higher Power/God.
I for one do not personally feel that he is the ever condeming God that some religions teach. Every single being is a form of God, We are God Like you may say. Yes He created the Universe, flower, trees, bugs and humans. I do not feel that He is to be feared. We do not fear the Universe, flowers, ect..so why fear Him? You ask what makes some think that He would not demolish us if it were to help others, I ask what makes you think He will? God gave us free will, just so that we can be in control of our own lives. Why would He give us such a wonderful gift, if He were to condem us for it?
Again, these are just my thoughts on some of this :-)
