Actually, many people do still read books - it all depends on the price of the books.
It is similar to the downturn in sales of CD's and DVD's due to the digital marketing of the music & movies.
There are actually many more listeners of music....but at a fraction of the cost to download an iTune instead of buying a CD. Imagine if the CD compares in price to a download......?

My youngest daughter who now lives in Melbourne owns the only bookstore (previously Borders) at Chadstone Shopping Centre. She tells me that changing the format and pricing of the products has resulted in an increasing patronage.
In other words, the books sold are much cheaper and thereby drawing many more customers.
The best selling items not surprisingly are Children's reading and play books. Their parents still encourage reading & spelling the old fashioned way.

I for one will fall asleep reading 'digital' or ebooks and being an Apek, find that my eyes do not wear well because of the white illumination or glarey background of electronic equipment.

Besides that, digital writers are lazy in nature as they think u r not carin enuf to worri bout spelin.

What good is that to our future generations?

Ray
