Captain, Doctor et al,

Many thanks for your kind wishes. Thought I will share with you a thumb-nail sketch of the Book Launch Event last Saturday.

The day started with the planting of three Ginko trees near the old Chinatown in Creswick, in memory of one of our founder-directors, who, at 56, regretably passed away earlier this year. Our heritage research group and her family were very much honoured, for the townfolks to recognised our collective work. The tree-planing event was a private occasion, as we remembered our friend.

This was followed by the book launch, at the Creswick Returned & Services of Australia League Hall (RSL). In attendence included the local Federal Member, local councillors, local historical society management and members, Creswick Museum management, representatives from Ararat (a old gold mine town founded by the Chinese), Bendigo (another well known gold mining town)and Ballarat Chinese Society representative. The launch was by a staff member of the Monash University, Dr. Kier Reeves, who is also a well regarded historian, with a number papers, heritage projects behind his name. So our group felt quite honoured.

After the launch, the book was on sale, and it was good that folks did buy our books. Copies will be at select libraries as well.

The day finished with a buffet dinner, meeting and talking to our fans and supported.

Meanwhile we are continuing with our work. Another target date is October 2009, when we hope to present an updated Chin (Gin) Clan Zupu/Jiapu (Clan/Family Pedigree Book) to fellow clan members in China.

Tell you more when appropriate.

Regards, LG
