Captain,
Well said. Happy grand-parenting.
It is as if you are falling in love again. Their spontaneity and innonence is a joy forever ....

This is why I have been trying to retire, but unable to get someone to take over, even for free. By the time they enter school, the fun gets lesser and lesser. The pressure they get in schools kills them softely.

My 3 year old grand daughter could not read ABCs, but she could sit quietly to listen to stories (you need a good story teller to do that), and even attending a concert for 2 hours (she knows it's a happy or sad music), and could recognise many kinds of animals in the zoo which I had not even heard of them. She now attends a Day Care in Toronto.
(Her parents are currently doing some research there; back to Singapore after 9 months) Imagine they learn to be very independent even at such a young age.
