That is a fair question. People generally are helpful and friendly in the streets, or in the train, shops. They go out of their way to assist you in street directory etc. In Aust, and UK, one often encounter "shouting at" as you walked passed, esp the youngsters, and the "new" australians! In my student days, the same could be apply to Australia, but it's no longer the case. Mind you, this is only a tourist impression!

There are certainly lots of non whites, but the whites are still the pre dominant race. Mind you, In the Rockies, you don't see as many Asians as in Toronto, Vancourer or Calgary.
