I agree with all you folks. And good of Hari for starting this thread.
I am nearly 65 and am grateful for what I have got. I am not religious, but do respect people for what they are and what they believe in. On reflection, our growing up years in Klang was more than I can ask for. The freedom, the fun, even in the strict Asian environment (of respect to elders, family, others) did us no harm. We made our own world of entertainment. Able to watch a cowboy & indian film on a Saturday, for 10 cents, entry by the side door, is a memory. Swimming in "Japanese Jungle" water hole (why was it named such by us?), or hunting for spent shells by the riffle range. The rumbutan season, the durian season, helping David Lee, set up dance session on a Saturday, at his badminton court -- such memories are priceless. 2 miles up Meru Road, and we can pretend that it's the jungle or plantation. The drains by the estate, water was so clean that we can find fighting fish or some tropical fish. And in the mid afternoon, the indian shop by the Klang Railway station, eating Mee Rebus or one of many fine indian food, just before our normal evening eal at home; visiting friends on a bike. Such was life. Where has it gone? Simple life I mean.
Glad that few of us are still using this MB to have a bit of laugh and dream of what life was all about.
Regards, LG
