Not a good sight to see in rugby. >

Now who made the above statement (albeit somewhat edited)?
Talk about a boring, lazy and lack lustre effort by both the English & Sth. African teams on the weekend.
Tryless with the outcome of the World Cup decided by kicking, did you watch Johnny Misfit attempt a field goal when the English side was only about 10 metres from the Sth. African tryline? It was absolutely gutless Rugby trying to score 3 points when the Poms had every chance of getting a try with only 4 'passes' been thrown so far.
This is exactly my point that the Johnny Misfits of this world get rewarded with knighthoods for kicking bloody rugby balls to win games instead of tries been scored.

In this final, field goals were unsuccessful - thank goodness! The sooner the Code discourages and downgrades awarding 3 points for this ugly action called 'field goals', the better. Then we may see Teams more inspired to score tries to get their points.

While the authorities are at it, they should also consider giving 2 points instead of 3 for penalty goals.
The outcome of Sunday morning's game was reflected in the goal kicking total of 21 points (7 penalty goals x 3 points). Score 15-6 Sth Africa's way.
At least I will agree with Toro on the fact that the interpretation of Rugby rules are somewhat inconsistent & confusing with players having to stand up in breakdowns, not coming in from the side, etc, etc - no wonder there are so many penalties given with stop/start effects on the game.

Anyhow, Congrats to the Springboks for winning the World Cup in 2008.
