LG,
Air Asia has abolished fuel surcharge and admin fees. Passengers need only to pay for the fare and airport tax. These 2 items constitute a huge saving.
It is a no-frills airline. Hence passengers need to pay for check-in luggage, selected seats (if preferred), food and drinks on board ( you are not allowed to consume own food and drinks ) . These are optional. You may choose not to buy them. For long haul there is also an option to purchase "comfort pack". With this you get a blind to cover your eyes ( to go to sleep, lah ), pillow and blanket. All these optional items do not cost much.
The joke going around is that someday Air Asia may impose a levy to use the toilet, seat belt, oxygen mask, life jacket, read Capt LKH's articles in the in-flight magazine, etc.
For your info, Air Asia was voted the Best Low Cost Airline in the world.
There is nothing to complain about its fares and services. For comfort and style, you need to fly with normal airlines. However, there is not much style if you are in economy class.
Regards.
