Joe Sexson was truly a monumental figure and a great example for all of us who loved/played basketball in Indiana in the Golden Age of the late 40s and 50s. I am very sorry to hear of his passing.
All the state, and beyond, loves you, Joe.

My mom, Audrey Pauline Sallwasser (nee Wessel) and Joe are related. As youngster on Sat nights the extended families would have dances at the Sexton cabin. The adults would dance and play cards. Mom would baby-sit Joe and the rest of the kids by telling them ghost stories. My Grandfather Paul Wessel often pitched at the annual Sexton Reunion softball game. Later in life he would be the ump calling the balls and strikes. I attended some of the reunions with my Aunt Anna Wessel and my grandparents. They are no doubt having a grand reunion in Heaven. Pauline died April 18, 2016. Cheryl
