White, Kenneth R.,
July 21, 2010
Kenneth Ross White Died Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Rittenhouse Senior Living
of Indianapolis surrounded by his loving family. Ken was born August 18,
1941 in New Bethel, Indiana to stock car driver, Hershel Eugene White and
Helen Joyce White. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in
1959. On January 28, 1961 Ken married his lifelong sweetheart, Donna
(Hancock) White. An inventor and entrepreneur, Ken founded K-Whit Tools,
Inc. and White Industries, beginning with a small automotive tool he created
in his basement. Over the next several years he applied for and was awarded
several patents on other automotive service tools. An avid pilot, Kenny
started flying when he was 15-years-old. Over the years Ken became a very
accomplished pilot holding a commercial pilot's license. He was also a
flight instructor and held a multi-engine rating. Flying was Ken's passion.
He owned several airplanes and loved flying his family to vacation spots all
over the country. In the summer Ken loved to play golf, never using a
cart. Winters would find him taking his family to Aspen, Colorado where he
loved downhill skiing. He was a rabid I.U. basketball fan. Ken coached youth
baseball and football when his boys were young. Ken was a self-taught
classical pianist and loved to play the guitar, teaching his sons to play
both instruments. His claim to fame was that he could play The Minute Waltz
in 59-12 seconds. Ken is survived by his best wife, Donna White, his sons
James R. White (wife, Anne) Carmel, Indiana, and Daniel B. White (wife,
Beth) Columbus, Indiana, his brother Randy White, Indianapolis, and sisters
Molly K. Robertson, Muncie, Barbara W. Wallace, St. Louis and Valerie J.
Conley (husband, Richard), Phoenix. Ken adored his eight grandchildren,
Jake, Brittany, Brianne, Jimmy, Rachel and Isabella, Indianapolis and
Danielle and Timmy, Columbus, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his
parents Hershel E. White, Minneapolis and Helen Joyce White, Indianapolis.
In his final few years during his illness Ken never lost his sense of humor.
The family thanks the staff at Rittenhouse Senior Living of Indianapolis for
caring so well for Ken for the past three years and to the kind people at
Premier Hospice for all the wonderful help the past several months.
