Jack E. Finkbiner 79, passed away Monday August 1, 2011 following an extended illness. Jack was born March 4, 1932 in Indianapolis the son of Roscoe E. and Dorothy (Buckley) Finkbiner. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1950. Mr. Finkbiner honorably served in the U.S. Navy. He also served with the Indianapolis Police Dept. He was a first responder to the catastrophic explosion at the Fairgrounds Coliseum. Jack and wife Virginia owned and operated several businesses over the years, including Hoosier Asphalt Paving, and most recently The Optical Shoppe in Carmel. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge,the Scottish Rite, the Murat Shrine, including the Police Club and the Flying Fezzes. He served as an officer for the Carmel VFW Post, was a member of the American Legion, the Antelope Club, and also the Carmel Lions Club. Surviving are wife of 53 years Virginia "Ginny" (Holder), four sons Jeff (Kathy) of Muncie, Greg of North Beach, Maryland, Jack E. II (Carrie) of Ingalls, Russell (Lynn) of Indianapolis. A sister Mildred Finkbiner of Henderson, Nevada, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William B. Finkbiner. A memorial service will be held at the Carmel VFW Post #10003 12545 Old Meridian St. on Saturday August, 13 at 2:00 p.m.
