NEW PALESTINE– Michael James Stanfield, age 58, of New Palestine, went home to be with his Lord on August 31, 2011, in Indianapolis. Born on November 24, 1952, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Samuel J. and Shirley J. (Ringler) Stanfield. Michael graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1971 and married Terri Barnes on October 21, 1978, in Indianapolis. He retired from FedEx in 2010 where he worked at the Indianapolis MZZ Station. He enjoyed supporting his son’s businesses including Stanfield Auto Sales and the Good Shepherd Fence Company.

Michael was a member of Park Chapel Christian Church and was an Ambassador for Christ. He loved football and was a wrestler and played football at Tech High School. Mike had a beautiful tenor voice. He lent his talent to the Arsenal Technical Boys Octet, Englewood Christian Church, Indianapolis Maennerchor, funerals, weddings, and family events. Mike was a true patriot and loved a united God and country. He was a true family man. Enjoying his family was his hobby.

Surviving him are his wife, Terri Stanfield of New Palestine; children, Chad (Pam) Barnes of New Palestine, Todd (Audra) Stanfield of Greenfield, and Rick Beckley of Greenfield who was like a son to Michael; mother, Shirley Stanfield of Indianapolis; sister, Sandra J. (John R.) Takacs of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Jacob Barnes, Kara Barnes, and Kate Stanfield; nephews, Steven (Maria Elena) Takacs and James R. Takacs; mother and father in law, Jesse and Louise Dailey of Morristown; brother and sister in law, J.B. (Nancy) Dailey of Morristown and Brenda Dick of Indianapolis; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his father.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, September 3, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Pastors David Woods and Danny Curry will be officiating. A visitation and party will take place afterward until 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Please feel free to stay and enjoy music and fellowship with the family.
