Yes, you sure are a "fur" piece from Indianapolis, either at 200 or 190 miles! I think you can't get much closer to the boundary tip down there where you are! Are you right on the Ohio? Are there beaches near you? Listen to me, I have so rarely seen the Ohio (crossing it only at night on the train, or looking through the bridge I guess during daylight. We have a river here, very nice one -- the Rappahannock - the one George threw the silver dollar across - yes, right! (He also cut down the cherry tree.) Apparently, a Marine, in the not too distant past, did indeed through one across, but it's wide (well not like the Ohio) across, so not many people can do it (have many tried?)

So, what do you do for a living? Or, what did you do? I thought for sure you worked for the Indiana State Parks.

Are you going to the 2012 Tech 100th year celebration (and our course class of 1951 get togethers)? Are any of you out there going? I would like to, but.... It sounds like a good time.

Well, Newburgh is a good drive to Indy and now that I have some years on me I don't like to make it a round trip in one day. Ha.. Newburgh is by Evansville and now it is hard to tell the boundry as the two are almost as one. The Ohio River is not known for its' beaches as it floods almost every year. Newburgh is a beautiful spot on the river. Sitting in a restaurant watching a river boat go by is a beautiful sight.

Warren,I to live on the Ohio River but on the southeast corner of the state near the Town of Vevay. The town only has one stop light. It use to be a four way stop but now we have real red, yellow and green lights. Most of us old people still stop even if the light is green. I love to sat at the American Legion and watch the barges go by.

Hey Mike, I know what you mean about small towns. I actually lived near Rockport, Indiana before coming to Newburgh. We had 2 stop lights and we like to tell about the town council wanting to be up to date and putting in a one way street, but they had to do away with it because everyone got outside of town and couldn't get back in. Ha. There was a Noblitt in my class, I think, any kin?

Warren,it's funny you mention one way streets. I'm on the planning and zoning board for Switzerland County and last year we approved a one way street next to the Court House. Well when they installed the signs on main street they had the arrow pointing south and on the next street it was pointing north. It made the headline of our weekly newspaper. I have to sisters who went to Tech. One is Nancy and the other one is Kay.I think you might remember a friend of mine,Tony Boschenko. Mike

That's funny about your one way street. I took my story from an old Herb Schriner joke he use to tell about his little town in Indiana. I don't remember where he was from. I don't remember your sisters first name. I graduated in 1956.

Love the jokes about one-way streets. Our town has too many of them, and it now takes five blocks to get where you would have been in one! Lots more gas too.

Schriner was born in Ohio in 1918.

How about out town council decided we needed a full time fire department. I guess it helped because when a house use to catch on fire it burned right down, now the fire department keeps it going almost all night.

Well, anyway small town Indiana. All of the small towns seem to be dying and the old buildings are going to ruins. Sad, but the era was fun. Every town had its' Saturday night when everyone would go to town and of course the movie theatre and probably a jackpot drawing.
