Okay heres what I know of the situation at best and besides I am a Political freak....

N.K. had signed the Arms Treaty Acts, with the US and I believe Russia and a couple more, but over the last year or so, they had been suspected of breaking that treaty and thus far not gone with that treaty. And just a few months ago, they backed out of the deal and thus is a major threat to the US. They are suspected of producing Nuclear(chemical)weapons of vast destruction. This only to my understanding as to why the US is not liking the N.K. at this time, but as life goes, things can change and what I have just written could be a total lie now...

We have problems with North Korea because they are ten times the danger to our country as Saddam is. While Saddam has been dormant for quite some time, not doing anything real bad for awhile, North Korea has repeatedly proven themselves to be totally insane. If it wasn't for the US troops over there, they would have probably blasted South Korea straight to hell a long time ago, and because the US is getting in their way, they probably plan on giving that treatment to us. Kim Jong-Sung (sp?) is, not to sound cliche, but pure evil. He's a control freak who dislikes the US at least as much as every problem of ours in the middle east.

If Kim Jong-Sung isn't even the guys name, please spare me the embarrassment, because I could've sworn that's what it was.

Besides..is there REALLY a need for a North Korea?? Honestly!! We have South Korea. Thats good enough. No one is gonna miss it anyways. Its not like North Korea is a great tourist spot. Lets just get rid of it.

From what I learned in Current Issues, N. Korea has one of the most dangerous nuclear arsenal in world.. second only to the United States. To make things worse, they are one of the few remaining Communist entities in the world, so our interests totally clash with theirs which causes a lot of friction. Plus the fact that Korea is pretty close to American soil makes things even more tense.

Just thought I'd get my two cents in...

See kids, reading a newspaper is good! :-D

In addition to what Brad said, N. Korea announced today that they had reopened their nuclear facilities. At the present time, they have claimed it is only for electricity, but said that it could produce nuclear weapons in a matter of months. Other than that, I have nothing to add that hasn't already been said. :)
