 Hi all, it's been awhile since I have written because I have been busy with my photography business and I just had one of my girls graduate. The reason I am needing advise is because my daughter is now in rehab about 4 hours away from us. I took her up there last week and on Saturday of this week they are having a family day. The place seems like a really good place. Only problem I have is it's 4 hours away and in order to go there for the family day they require the family members to show up at 9:30am and stay until 3:30pm. I would love to be there for my daughter but I am broke and in one months time our family has had 2 car wrecks, a broken arm, and a graduation. Not only am I drained finacially but also mentally and physically. She wants me to bring the little one which is only 4 years old and there is no daycare for the children which means my 4 year old would have to sit through 5 hours of classes plus 8 hours in a vehicle.

I tried calling my daughters counsler to get her opion on how to handle it and she just out and out told me that I had to be there if I wanted Anna to get better. I don't know but this goes against everything that I have learned in Al anon. I have learned that the addict has to help themselves and that nothing we do can change it. Please don't misunderstand what I am trying to say....I want to be there for her....she is trying and I want to support her in anyway that I can but making this trip 3 times in one month...once to take her there, once for this family day and then once more to go get her....I just don't think I can do it finacially. The counsler told me that everyone has money problems and that I really needed to be there for my daughter which I understand that but she did not understand one bit that I am broke and may not be able to afford it. I don't know what to do...like I said I want to be there for my daughter but I don't know how to. I feel that the counsler was laying a guilt trip on me about not going...and now she probably thinks that is why my daughter has all her problems. Sorry this is so long but I just need some feedback.
