That sounds scarey! I remember that way of thinking, not for me personally but Spencer. So far the thinking is different. I don't know but maybe time and wanting to work on themselves in a personal way. I know Spencer had/has Bernie as a father figure to teach him about things that he should already know and should be doing, just basic learning about life and growing. One has to be interested in listening. Did your brother go to rehab or NA or anything? I know it works for that area because they teach to help change that way of thinking. I know that is what helped Spencer. He admitted himself to a three month out patient and graduated from it and actually started doing homework that was assigned and opened up to his peers there about himself. That is a big step for an addict. (that is what I hear) So it is self discipline I suppose.
How should you deal with it? I don't know, cause I know how irritating they can be with that thinking. I say get them reading material, self help books. I heard about this series of tapes called "Secrets". Look it up, but they have to be willing to listen to them and maybe you can too.
