Thanks Shelly. I appreciate your feedback.

I guess I didn't delve too deeply into my story, but here's the short version.

We were together for more than a decade before he started using.

What made it so difficult before (and now) is that he is completely functional. What we see on TV or in the movies is not the reality of most 'working' addicts who can totally pass as sober. So, the analogies I read about living in the closet are completely true.

It makes it difficult to distinguish between when he used and when he's just in a bad mood. It's usually the extreme times that I absolutely knew (or know now).

It's funny because I know the answer. I think we all know the answer here, but it's always easier said than done.
