I totally agree with you. I wish that I could be there for my daughter but she has made that impossible because I am the one responsible for taking care of her 3 yr old now. I will not allow my granddaughter to be caught up in her rollercoster life of up and downs. I hate the fact that I can't be there to support her while she is trying to get clean but she made the choice to do meth and mess up her life. Her daughter had no choice and does not deserve to have her life turned upside down. It's sad that we can't be there for them but when there are children involved the best thing to do is get the children out of the situation even if it means leaving the addict or kicking them out. I have learned from experience that even after the addict is clean their lives are so messed up that it will take them a long time to even come close to having a "normal" life. It's sad but true.
