I do understand this. My complaint here is when someone is ready to get help, I am hearing that their main recourse to do so is outpatient therapy. I just assumed a meth addict would first need detox then inpatient, very intense rehabilitation. It seems to me that getting away from the trigger points, people, places would be additional help to someone wanting to quit. Spending three hours a day in 'treatment' before the person has it completely out of their system and then returning home each night with all of the triggers and availability of having the drug around just seems too much of a temptation to NOT use. I guess I am just shocked that when a strong meth addict asks for help they are not able to go into a facility where they spend 24/7 working on their problems from A-Z!! I am disappointed to hear that after an evaluation he may just be asked to go to counseling 3hrs a day -that to me is in no way a 'treatment' plan for someone so screwed up!
