Subject: Meth does kill

Yesterday my son's toxicology report came back. I live in Washington and it took 11 weeks to get the results. I knew he had used crank and when he quit that, he went to pain pills. I watched his struggle for several years -- trying so hard to come clean. Last June I had to lay out some serious ground rules. I am raising his daughter -- have had Daisy since she was born and she is 5 now. Her mother was on crystal meth during her pregnacy. Daisy had been spending weekends with her Dad. He had always been agressive but not dangerous. Last June this escalated to a point that I was afraid of him. He was 31 by then. He threatened to kill me more than once. I saw the sores... he told me it was sun poisoning. But the rage was at an all time new level. I no longer let Daisy talk to him or see him. He overdosed in January 2006 while we were at Disneyland. I found out yesterday that the report showed nicotine, Methodone and Methamphetamines. I'm posting here to say -- yes it does kill. And it leaves your loved ones feeling empty and helpless. THe mother is still alive and still using. She has never been allowed to see her daughter.

I know the methodone, crack and pain pills contributed to this a great deal-- but the rage and the pychosis alienated him from everyone. It was a funeral full of quilt feelings... Wishing we had all done more.... but what can you do? Protect yourself and the children. You can't change anyone. Only yourself.

The very sad part of my story -- is Daisy. I'm all she has. She will grow up never knowing her Mom. And hopefully she will forget the bad about her Dad (rage and anger) and only remember the great things about him. The new ground rule is just that. No one can ever talk bad about her Mom or Dad and only can relay the positive things about each of them to her. She is now my one and only mission.
