The following is my opinion only.
If the mother is possibly using, I would not allow any visitation at all. This is due to the fact that if she is using, she cannot follow any type of visitation schedule, and all she will do is cause more pain and heartache to the child.
The only way to not cause pain, hurt, and suffering to the child would be to have scheduled visitation that is stricly followed so the child will know when Mommy is coming and that Mommy has to leave afterward.
The havoc that goes on without a strict schedule will only hurt the child in the long or short run.
